Early Life & Career

Born on June 12, 1892, Hanumappa Muniappa Reddy began his journey as a police inspector in Bangalore before following his passion for cinema. Refusing to work under British rule, he courageously left his secure government position to pursue his dreams in the nascent film industry.

Cinematic Journey

H.M. Reddy started as a photographer and cinematographer, eventually becoming one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema. He founded Rohini Pictures, one of the first film production studios in South India, which became a hub for regional film production.

Personal Life

He was married to Ammanamma and had one son, Yelahanka Chandrashekar, who continued the family legacy. Despite the demands of his pioneering work in cinema, he remained devoted to his family.
